When you register or transfer a domain name, you are required to provide accurate contact information for the registrant and, where applicable, the administrative and technical contacts. We also collect billing information necessary to process your payments.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to: communicate with you about our services; register and maintain your domain names and accounts; verify your identity and the information you provide; process payments; maintain and improve our website and services; analyze website traffic and usage patterns; deliver and measure the effectiveness of advertising; prevent or detect fraud or abuse; and comply with ICANN requirements, registry policies, and applicable law.

3. Domain Registration Data — Recipients and Disclosure

Because we are an ICANN-Accredited Registrar, certain data associated with your domain name registration is shared as required by our agreements with ICANN and with the registry operators. Specifically:

  • Registry Operators. Registration data is transmitted to the registry operator for the applicable top-level domain (for example, Verisign for .com and .net), and to parties who receive data from the registry operator.
  • Data Escrow Agent. Registration data is deposited with an independent data escrow agent, as required by ICANN, for the purpose of safeguarding registrant data.
  • ICANN. We may be required to provide certain data, information, and records to ICANN in connection with our accreditation and compliance obligations.
  • Public Directory (RDDS/WHOIS/RDAP). Certain registration data may be published through the Registration Data Directory Service, subject to applicable data-redaction policies. You may limit the public display of your contact information by subscribing to our Domain Privacy & Proxy service.
  • Service Providers. We may share information with service providers and contractors who perform functions on our behalf, subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations.

Except as described in this Policy or as required to provide our services, we do not sell or provide your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We will, however, cooperate with law-enforcement agencies and respond to valid legal requests, court orders, and regulatory requirements.

4. Data Retention

In accordance with ICANN’s Data Retention Specification, we retain registration data for the duration of our sponsorship of a domain name and for a period of two (2) years thereafter. Certain transactional, payment, and communications records are retained for shorter periods (for example, a minimum of 180 days), or as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law. We retain account information for as long as you remain an active customer and thereafter as required by law.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate our website, understand how visitors interact with it, and deliver relevant advertising. We ask for your postal address and telephone number as part of our verification process and when we register or transfer a domain name on your behalf. Only authorized OrangeHost personnel have access to your contact details.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information, we have implemented reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures designed to safeguard the information we collect. We use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption to protect personal information in transit, and personnel with access to our systems are trained to maintain its security. To protect your privacy and security, we will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access to, or making corrections to, your information.

8. Your Rights

You may access and request correction of the information we hold about you by logging into your account or by contacting us.
